One of the key ECA services for Member Clubs arrives in Norway this week. The ECA Legal Roadshow will be at the Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo – the country’s national stadium - where the association’s team will be on hand to present insights and updates, and to offer help and guidance to around 40 club representatives.
One of the primary objectives of ECA's Legal Department is to become the natural first point of contact for clubs when in need of legal advice, either contentious or non-contentious, and the roadshow, which aims to visit countries across Europe, gives representatives an opportunity of meeting the team and exchanging information face-to-face.
Using case studies, the latest industry insights, and interactive sessions, ECA’s expert team will showcase the many ways in which the association can support clubs through its suite of bespoke legal advice and services.
This week’s agenda will cover a range of topics including Litigation before sporting bodies; Licensing Made Simple; Transfer and Loan Agreements; Brand Protection for Clubs; and ECA’s Deal Checker for Innovative Sponsorship. The sessions will also look at the FIFA Agents Regulations and ÚEFA’s Regulations, and what they allow clubs to do commercially.
The team will comprise Michael Short, Head of Commercial Legal, Mario Flores, Head of Sports Legal, and José Luis Andrade, General Counsel, who said:
“While we are constantly interacting with our colleagues at clubs digitally, it is great to get out and meet them in person, and hear some specific local issues, as well as offering some updates and guidance.”
Snorre Strand, Molde FK’s Club Secretary attending this week said:
“The ECA Legal Services team is absolutely pivotal to what we do as clubs. It means we have a vital resource to call on when we need help and guidance on a particular issue. And football is so broad these days, legal input is needed across a huge range of topics. The roadshows reinforce that.”
And, as Andrade points out, the Legal Services team is available all the time. He said:
“Clubs do not need to wait for a roadshow – we aim to be here at any time to help representatives.”
