A cornerstone of ECA services to clubs, the ECA Legal Journal provides vital insightful analysis and practical guidance to help members in their daily business.
Reflecting on ECA’s growth to more than 650 clubs ECA CEO, Charlie Marshall, said: “We appreciate that with a larger ECA Family comes the crucial task of ensuring the continued excellence of the benfites we provide to our members. So, we are committed to investing the necessary resources and expertise to maintain the highest standards that our members deserve, especially in the crucial area of legal support.”
The fourth issue of ECA’s Legal Journal provides a practical guide to the FIFA Clearing House, written by FIFA. ECA is aware of the challenges that some clubs have faced using the platform and is working closely with FIFA to ensure that training rewards are properly and swiftly distributed in a fair and orderly manner.
The Journal also covers six of the most relevant CAS decisions for clubs notified during the past 12 months, encompassing issues such as the pitfalls that can arise from unclear wording of a transfer agreement; termination of an employment contract on the basis of a player’s poor physical condition; and an instructive case about the issue of pre-contracts, and their fundamental differences with final employment contracts.
The ECA Legal Journal, which has quickly become a key pillar of ECA’s strategic projects, is now online and available to download.
ECA Head of Sports Legal, Mario Flores, added: “The ECA Legal Journal has become a key practical resource for clubs and is packed with information on issues and cases which have direct relevance to the challenges facing our growing membership. It offers counsel and supporting strategies that can help our clubs respond to the legal issues they might face, be it on a daily basis or in extraordinary circumstances.”
The ECA Legal Team offers a range of invaluable resources, including the ECA Legal Briefing which offers frequent timely snapshots of the evolving sports legal scene, while the ECA Legal Journal takes a deeper dive into the most relevant jurisprudence of the past 12 months. Both publications are designed to cater to the diverse needs of our clubs, ensuring they receive thorough and continuous support.
