The ECA Women's Football Committee (WFC) Task Force, chaired by ECA Executive Board Member Jean-Michel Aulas (Olympique Lyonnais), gathered in Lyon today for its inaugural meeting.
Representatives from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam (GER), Birkirkara FC (MLT), FC Twente (NED), Valencia CF Femenino (ESP), Brøndby IF (DEN), LSK Kvinner FK (NOR) and Olympique Lyonnais (FRA) were present to follow up on the UEFA Women's International Calendar meeting which took place earlier this month at the UEFA Headquarters in Nyon. Members of the WFC met with representatives from leagues, national associations and UEFA to discuss a new international calendar proposal allowing for better harmonisation between club and national team football with less release periods.
Today's task force meeting was also used to present and discuss the first ECA Survey on Women's Club Football matters. The aim of the survey was to better understand how women's football clubs are organised and which strategic matters shall be addressed by the WFC in the future. Topics, such as Women's Football development and promotion were raised and discussed intensively.
The ECA Women's Football Committee was born in May 2013 in response to the growing interest and professionalization in the women's game. The committee can rely on the vast knowledge and experience of ECA dealing with similar strategic issues on the men's side.
