ECA kicks off Legal Workshop series in Romania

As the football business is becoming ever more juridical, it is important for professional clubs to be fully up-to-date with the latest developments at international regulatory level and to understand how such developments at FIFA, UEFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) may impact the club's day-to-day business and decision-making.

Against this background, and with the aim of enhancing and sharing the knowledge of clubs across Europe, ECA is organising a series of practical legal workshops in order to discuss the latest legal and regulatory developments in club football, including, but not limited to, the various regulations directly affecting transfer & employment policies.

The topics on the agenda are carefully selected by ECA's Legal Department based on questions received from the respective clubs and the participants have the opportunity to discuss any legal questions they may have.

The first workshop in Bucharest was organised at the premises of the Romanian Professional Football League and saw representatives from fourteen Romanian clubs participating, both ECA Member Clubs and Non-Members, namely FCSB, Fotbal Club Viitorul, CSU Craiova, Fotbal Club Astra, CSM Politehnica Iasi, FC Botosani, CS Pandurii Lignitul Tg. Jiu, FC Voluntari, ASA Tg. Mures, ACS Poli Timisoara, CS Gaz Metan Medias, Dinamo, CFR Cluj, Concordia Chiajna.

Commenting on the successful Legal Workshop held in Bucharest, ECA's Head of Legal, Wouter Lambrecht, said:

     "As the sports regulatory framework is developing rapidly, in particular in football, it is crucial that we keep a close eye on it and update clubs on a regular basis. We see this as a valuable service to all clubs and today's workshop in Bucharest has definitely shown that there is a need to exchange thoughts and experiences around legal issues affecting the club business."

The next Legal Workshop is scheduled to take place on 23rd of May in Lillestrom, Norway.
