ECA has shared a comparative analysis with its 246 member clubs on “Return to Play” protocols at domestic league level across European countries following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the professional game.
With a number of countries across Europe easing COVID-19 measures, many in football are now preparing for the next phase. Federations and leagues are adopting medical and operational protocols to resume training and playing official matches; some have already started, others are preparing.
The health and safety of everyone involved in the game will always be of paramount importance for ECA and in any “Return to Play” activities. Therefore, in order to offer a best practice view around these protocols, ECA has developed a comparative analysis with the expert advice of its Medical Task Force of club doctors and operations professionals, which has been shared with its members.
The analysis aggregates, as exhaustively as possible at this stage, various implementation steps being considered across European countries on the road to resuming professional football. The analysis does not aim to set binding guidelines or recommendations and accordingly should be considered only as a source of information that aggregates and unifies the approaches and preventative measures taken across Europe.
