ECA Club Management Programme (CMP) participants and alumni gathered at Chelsea FC’s Stamford Bridge in London today for an extra session dedicated to Leadership and Innovation.
Participants took time to consider what football can learn from other industries, and how technology and football could be combined.
For the first time, participants from both the first and second editions of the programme came together to attend a session focusing on an important area in strategic business management, namely innovation. The one-day session offered participants the opportunity to look more closely at best practices and trends related to technological and disruptive innovation, the use of data in business, and a case study on the emerging eSports industry provided by CEO of ESL, Ralf Reichert.
Further speakers at the session included Rasmus Ankersen, Chairman of FC Midtjylland, and Omar Chaudhuri, who jointly looked at how algorithms and software can be used as part of a club’s strategy. Caitlin Hughes, BBC Worldwide & Juventus Board Member, gave her views on the changing role of the media and broadcast industry over the next two decades. Participants also heard from other esteemed practitioners and academics specialising in the field.
The third session of the second edition of the ECA CMP will focus on the topic of Business Activities and is to be held in New York and Atlanta on 5th – 7th June.
